On the night of November 8th, 2016 the United States voted in Donald Trump as their 45th President. Trump had flipped the states of Hillary Clinton’s “Blue Wall”, leaving the world shocked. As I watched the results come in from my couch in Perth, Australia I felt a need to record this moment. By utilizing a website that collected the streams of thousands of unsecured surveillance cameras across the US, this collection of images forms the portrait of a significant moment in history. “Trump Night” compiles views from across the US, in both public and domestic settings. By doing so the series engages in a post-Snowden conversation about a modern desire for security, which often comes in spite of threats to an individual’s privacy.
