In Pursuit of Wild Horses
is the culmination of three years of my early adulthood, in which I allowed myself to photograph in a diaristic way, without a pre-visualised project in mind. It is a body of work that seeks to be as poetic as it is auto-biographical, as much a chronicle as retrospective constructed.
The work captures a period of time when I was in limbo between a desire for personal independence and a fear of isolation and solitude. Many of the images are shot in locations that were at the time unfamiliar to me, such as the United Kingdom and the United States, and these landscapes are populated by portraits of young people, who exist as analogs for myself.
This work is undoubtably a response to the suffocating homeliness of Wellard, with no restrictions placed on physical location or even camera format. In its gestalt it exists as an introspection of the distance between my present and my future.
